Community Affairs & Resource Center is now hiring an Employment Specialist.

Responsible for: 
  • Finding employment for participants
  • Networking to develop and maintain business contacts for job placement
  • Compiling & disseminate information regarding incentives to prospective employers
  • Compiling and maintaining up to date information regarding area job opportunities; distribute to qualified clients
  • Collect documentation of employment once participants achieve employment
  • Follow up with employers and clients post hire
  • Conducting workforce development classes to enhance individuals’ career and employment skill development
  • Interviewing participants to assess their knowledge, skills, and attitudes
  • Interviewing participants to assess educational and employment related needs
  • Assisting clients in determining a plan of actions for reaching economic self sufficiency, both long and short term goals
  • Assist Training Facilitator with preparation for and resume writing
  • Reviewing resume, job history, and capabilities of participants to assist in finding appropriate jobs and Career Pathways
  • Help clients enhance their job search skills and preparing them for the interviews
  • Engage participants in mock interview to provide constructive criticism
  • Maintaining case files in a comprehensive written format
  • Maintaining progress reports on each active participant during job search
  • Follow up with past and present participants regarding status of interview
  • Follow up on participant’s progress and status at job to increase employment retention
  • Working in conjunction with other social services agencies as needed to ensure delivery of service to clients
  • Providing an atmosphere of support, confidentiality and ethical standards for all clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (writing, listening, speaking)
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
  • Assist Program Director as needed
  • Assistance with agency fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
  • Minimum two year of providing employment direct services
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with two year experience or an Associate Degree with three years of direct client services.
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license
  • Must be capable of working with diverse populations
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Some weekends and evenings may be required as needed
