NSCN Thursday Share and Support Sessions

We are launching a new group meeting on Thursdays hosted by Marc Strano where NSCN members can share with and support each other during these especially stressful times.

Last week NSCN hosted our first Share and Support telenetworking event.  A handful of NSCN members got together virtually and shared their experience about weathering the cornoavirus.  The discussion was upbeat and it was good to socialie like visiting with friends.
  • One shared how the job search changed overnight.  Our marginal group (50+ long-term unemployed) has been looking for work for so long.  It's now become widespread and very intense.
  • One is honing her video interview skills, knowing that video will be increasingly important for everything.
  • One is considering Amazon jobs, but is concerned about whether those on-location jobs are safe.
  • One is learning about going from conventional event planning to virtual event planning.
In terms of managing stress, more and more people are meeting virtually with groups of friends.  Fortunately, we now have time to take advantage of the mild spring weather with well-deserved breaks out in nature -- strolling the neighborhood, sitting in the park, longer walks with the dog, light work in the yard:
  • "It's good just to be outside and to feel the sun on my face."
  • "As I walk, I can feel the tension in my body just melt away."
  • "A few deep breaths of fresh air is like a gift to me."
How great it is to connect with these simple things and to get such a feeling of well being!
Join us for another NSCN Share and Support telenetworking event this Thursday at 1:30pm for an hour of open discussion and support with Marc Strano, Michele Martin and Maria Heidkamp.  Our agendas will be based on your needs and questions.  If you are interested in participating, please see the details below for joining the Zoom sessions.
